Magna Carta, the Federalists, and the Anti-Federalists

“The mention of Magna Carta appears in both Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers discussing ratification of the new U.S. Constitution. This exercise uses primary source excerpts from these documents to explore the framers’ 18th century references to Magna Carta and what would become the Bill of Rights.”

In this exercise, students read and study excerpts from Federalist 84 and Brutus 2 and answer discussion questions.
