The Right to Vote & Restrictions on Voting

Activity: Students consider state voting laws (North Carolina, Texas, North Dakota, Ohio) that limit registration, voting times, or voter identification. They examine the law, the purpose for the law, and the challenge to the law. Then, students answer the question: If you were on a court that was asked to review this law, how would you analyze it? Would you uphold or strike down the law?
Go to: Street Law Resource Library [1] (http://www.streetlaw.org/en/resource_library). Use the filters on the left side of the page to find what you need: Select “Lesson Plan/ Activity” under the “Type” category, then look alphabetically for “Voter Restriction Cases – Background, Activity, and Current Status.”
