Simulate the legislative process and examine real legislation with this curriculum resource for middle and high school classrooms. Today’s Vote in the Classroom provides two-day lessons that ask students to take on the role of U.S. Senators, debate issues, and cast their votes on real bills that have been introduced to Congress.

Today’s Vote in the Classroom is made up of four parts:

  • explore the issue
  • create a senate profile
  • preview the bill
  • deliberate and vote

Engaging topics are provided and supported by policy background information, bill briefs, and classroom presentations. Tips [1] for how to utilize remote tools, independent work, and video conferencing for virtual/ distance learning are provided.
