Summary: Students are introduced to the three functions of government (legislative, executive and judicial) through a story about an over-worked king who must handle too many tasks.  Next, students are given descriptions of  the functions and asked to match tasks to departments.  Finally, students create job descriptions for legislators, executives and judges.

Objectives:

Students will:

  • be able to identify the three branches of government
  • be able to sort tasks into executive, legislative or judicial functions
