“Search America’s historic newspaper pages from 1789-1963 or use the U.S. Newspaper Directory to find information about American newspapers published between 1690-present.”

Included are three eighteenth-century American newspapers -

Gazette of the United States, & Philadelphia daily advertiser (1796-1800) advocated loyalty to the federal government (Federalist)

The National Gazette (1791–1793) was created at the request of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson and promoted an Anti-Federalist viewpoint

The National Intelligencer and Washington advertiser (1800–1810) was the first to document the activities of Congress
