“This video (4:48) adapted from FRONTLINE explores the attitudes of citizens of Newtown, Connecticut in the aftermath of the 2012 massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. While some citizens advocated for few or no restrictions on gun ownership, others—including some who considered themselves non-political—felt compelled to argue for more restrictive gun laws. The debate was characterized as a confrontation between factions favoring more guns and those calling for no guns at all. No common ground could be established.
