Students play as a senator or representative from a state and political party they select. Then their challenge is to get Congress to pass a bill based on a hot topic from a constituent. Their bill is based in letters from their constituents. In the process of getting the bill passed they must work with other members of Congress to find compromise and to create coalitions.
- Students will understand how a bill becomes law.
- Students will understand the compromises and cooperation that are necessary for Legislative action.
- Students will understand how the conflicting values of members of Congress can create roadblocks to passage of legislation.
The Annenberg Foundation is a private family foundation that provides funding and support to nonprofit organizations in the United States and globally.
