Teaching Civics through Children’s Literature

Teaching guides for popular children’s literature to help teach Civics and Government standards and English Language Arts standards. As increased emphasis on math and reading in the elementary grades has squeezed social studies education, use of literature can be a critical tool for building student knowledge needed in later grades.
The teaching guides include significant questions, explanations and answers, and assessment suggestions.
